Interview with...
Ailsa Price @ Creature Comforts |
What
services do you offer? |
Creature
Comforts specialises in the care of dogs in
the homes of carefully selected host families. They are
cared for in a loving environment with all the comforts of
home. They too will have a holiday whilst you are enjoying
yours! |
If
you do pet sitting in your house, is your garden secure? |
All
of our host families have secure gardens where your dogs are
happy to sniff to their heart’s content. |
If
you do dog walking or dog sitting, how long are your walks
with the dogs normally?
|
Your
dog will be walked, as closely as possible, for the same duration
and at the same times they are with yourselves. |
How
many animals do you take into your house?
|
Our
host families only ever have one customers dogs staying with
them at any one time. Some of our families do have dogs
of their own however, all of whom are happy to have friends
to stay! |
Do
you offer any activities for the pets in your care? For
example Kong toys, search exercises, etc |
We
will continue your dog’s usual activities as closely
as is practical. Our aim is to ensure their routine is
disrupted as little as possible. |
How
many pets do you have yourself and what are they? |
I
personally have two miniature dachshunds, Brucie and Frankie. They
are the reason I started Creature Comforts as I couldn’t
bear the thought of leaving them in kennels! |
What
are your hobbies? |
I
act as a host family myself and also care for and ride my horses
Blueprint and Rostherne. |
Is
there anything that you would always recommend others to
try? |
I
would always recommend people to use services such as ours. The
dogs are so much happier and really enjoy seeing their second
family time after time. |
Do
you have dreams for the future? |
I
plan to expand Creature Comforts to ensure that other dogs
benefit from the care of a loving family whilst their owners
are away. |

I have been using Creature Comforts for nearly 3 years now. Ailsa is wonderful and our chocolate labrador, Sally, is always well cared for and happy. I think Sally especially enjoys accompanying Ailsa when she attends to her horses, and Ailsa assures me that Sally is always well-behaved around the horses. I chose Creature Comforts because I once left Sally in local kennels but she was obviously distressed and it was obvious that she had not been exercised and taken out of her kennel despite only being there for 2 nights. She hadn't eaten which is not normal for a labrador! Sally has also stayed with Ingrid (who is fantastic) and Ailsa's mum (who is also fantastic) and I would trust Ailsa and her dog-sitters 100%. I know that Sally gets lots of TLC and exercise every time she stays. Because we are often called away on business at short notice it is great to know that Ailsa will always do her utmost to accommodate Sally. I can highly recommend Creature Comforts. It's the 'Doggy Hilton' of Wales. Sandra Jones

I would reccomend Creature Comforts without reservation. Our border collie Sammy stayed with Ingrid Williams near Holywell for three weeks while we were in America. He was obviously well cared for and thoroughly enjoyed his stay there. Thank you Ingrid and Creature Comforts. Chris James

Creature Comforts offered me an excellent prompt service from the moment I made contact off their excellent web site. It was very professional and reassuring in all areas. The family who hosted my two labradors for 13 days whilst we were away on holiday were very able and satisfactory. My "babies" were very happy on my arrival to collect them. Thank you so much, creature comforts made my holiday better than ever with total peace of mind that the loves of my life were safe and happy in a home from home enviroment. I wont hesitate to use you again and have recomended you to close friends and family. Many thanks, Mrs Daly

Fantastic service!! Our dog Biscuit had a marvelous holiday, while
we were skiing this February. No, she did not come with us to Austria,
she had her own bed and breakfast and diner served in the evening
with a lovely family in Holywell. Aisla found a perfect holidaymum
for our 4.5 year old Bernese Mountain Dog!! It's great to know that
your dog is looked after with so much love!! THANK YOU, Ingrid Willemse

Ailsa put me in touch with a very experienced sitter in Isobel for my 10month
old cavalier Kelly. She couldn't have wanted anything better, a real home from
home. Carol Fraser

Our 3 year old Black Labrador "Ralph" went to stay with Ailsa for Christmas
2006 for 6 days. Normally we would travel 7 hours to Cambridgeshire so he can
stay with our parents and then we would fly from Stansted. We have been doing
this journey for a few years now as we know he is loved and it is his second
home and it was getting to be a nightmare driving especially on the M6! Ailsa
came recommended to me so we decided to try "Ralph" with Ailsa.
What a success story, Ralph returned to us in great spirits and you could
see he had been loved, cuddled and very well looked after. I would definitely
recommend Ailsa to any pet owner. We have no children so Ralph is like
a child to us and is a little spoilt and we will definitely be seeing Ailsa
again next year. Thank you Ailsa and Ralph sends his love. xx Maeve O'Hehir

I recently contacted Ailsa as i needed someone to look after my dog over christmas
(at very short notice), Ailsa arranaged for my dog to go to a sitters house for
2 days, and the service was fantastic, my dog had a fabulous time which made
me much happier about leaving her. Alison McMillan

We needed to find a home for Tyler for 2 weeks whilst we were on holiday. We
didn't want to use kennels as Tyler likes to be with people all day and would
not have enjoyed kennel life. After contacting Ailsa and providing her with all
the relevant information about Tyler, we were put in contact with a potential
'foster mum'. Tyler was really well looked after and I know he had a great time
- far better than if he had gone to kennels. Ailsa's service is great - very
efficient and personalised. If you have a dog and are going away I would heartily
recommend this service. Tony Bishton

Ailsa was recommended to us by our friend Amanda Hopkin, and we are so glad we
followed it up. Our dog is now an elderly gentleman of 15 and always came back
from kennels completely shattered from being kept awake by all the other dogs'
constant barking. What a complete change to pick him up from 2 weeks with Ailsa,
and see him happy and well rested. We will definatley be using Creature Comforts
again in the future. Donna Clerkin

Ailsa came to our rescue when Molly, our young border collie decided that she
no longer liked going to kennels. Ailsa found a superb location for Molly with
so much care and attention she came home with tail wagging and eager to return.
She has been back to the lovely Janet and her family and is now a delight to
leave...and come back to. Thank you from Molly who is looking forward to going
farming again soon! Amanda Hopkin

I would recommend Ailsa without any hesitation. A true dog lover who gives our
labrador and flatcoat retriever a home from home when we have to leave them.
The dogs are clearly very well looked after and happy when we pick them up. Ailsa
is also very reliable about dates and times and is easy to contact. Kath Barrar

Earlier this year I fell and broke my foot badly and didn't know how I would
cope with daily walks for my two energetic young flat coated retrievers. Thank
goodness that Creature Comforts / Ailsa came to my rescue! Ailsa provides a fantastic,
reliable, totally professional and friendly dog walking service. Woody and Finn
absolutely love her and I know that they are having the kind of fun they are
used to when they are with her. Since I have returned to work, Ailsa still comes
twice a week to walk the boys while I am out - it gives me such peace of mind
to know that they are happy to go out with her. Cathy Limb

Ailsa was very friendly with our puppy and he was very happy and healthy when
I returned from my holiday. I would certainly use her. Greg Meredith

We left our two standard poodles, Alia and Bruno, with Ailsa for three
weeks whilst we were in Australia for our son’s wedding and we can’t recommend
her highly enough. We were extremely worried before we went, as our daughter
has previously looked after them, but as she and her family were in Australia
with us this wasn’t possible. We have looked at many kennels over the last
twelve months, and although friends had offered to come in and look after them,
we felt neither option would be a solution as the dogs are used to long walks
along the River Dee. Fortunately we discovered Ailsa, who sorted us out and reassured
us, letting us look forward to the wedding with easy minds. Both dogs fell in
love with Ailsa and obviously had a wonderful time with her in her lovely cottage
in Holywell. Since our return we’ve noticed that Alia, our oldest dog (14),
has acquired a new lease of life and is bouncing round the house like a puppy,
and Bruno is his usual chatty, cheeky self. A bonus is that Bruno has stopped ‘helping’
by pulling our mail from the letter box – we
had tried to discourage this but staying with Ailsa
seems to have done the trick. Thank you Ailsa! Pam
