Interview with...
Lorna Simpson @ Aces |
What
services do you offer? |
We
offer dog walking, house sitting, horse
care - mucking out feeding, rug changing etc., pet-vet
transport, and small animal care,
cats, rabbits, we are even doing ducks! |
If
you do pet sitting in your house, is your garden secure? |
We
dont do dog sitting in our own homes. |
If
you do dog walking or dog sitting, how long are your
walks with the dogs normally?
|
Walks
are usually for half an hour or an hour but we can do longer
upon requestwe offer 1/2hr and hour walks - or if a client
requests any other we can oblige |
How
many animals do you take into your house?
|
We
tend to take them on a one-to-one basis unless a client has
more than one dog - i can also can take my own dogs along
as this is very good for helping to socialize dogs at owners
homes - my dogs are very friendly with other dogs and it
has been greatly beneficial to young or timid/nervous dogs. |
Do
you offer any activities for the pets in your care? For
example Kong toys, search exercises, etc |
We
take toys on walks to make them more fun, also we offer an
introduction to all types of situations package, where they
can be slowly introduced to different types of enviroments
e.g town walking, short journeys in car, trips to the beach/woods
etc. |
How
many pets do you have yourself and what are they? |
I
have three cats, fudge, treacle and blue - all rescued -
and two labradoodles - cassie is 2 1/2yrs old and dillon
is 1yr old - i am currently taking them to training classes
which helps me to pass on tips to my clients. i have had
horses, and managed large horse sanctuaries in the past,
but at present i have none as i am concentrating on building
up this business. |
What
are your hobbies? |
My
hobbies are anything animal related, i am very much into
animal welfare - all my previous and present animals, except
the dogs, have been rescued. |
Is
there anything that you would always recommend others
to try? |
I
would certainly recommend taking a new puppy/dog to a reputable
training class, especially with an older dog which may come
with some past history - you can check with your local vet
on good training classes. most problems unfortunately are
created by people but don't be put off by this as they all
deserve a second chance. i would also think long & hard
before getting a pet because of the committments you have
to make - many people do not realise what is involved until
they get them, and inevitably they end up in the local animal
sanctuary. |
Do
you have dreams for the future? |
I
do have dreams for the future but unless i win the lottery
i don't think i will be able to realise them but on a more
realistic note i would like to establish aces and eventually
offer an alternative way of looking after your pet whilst
you are away. giving them a more "at home enviroment"
to make it less stressful for both owner and pet. |
I can thoroughly recommend ACES for providing reliable,
quality care for your pets. I have been using their services
for about a year now. I never have to worry when I leave
my dog with ACES, he is always very well looked after and
exercised, which makes for a very happy dog, and an even
happier owner. Mandy Mackay
